DIY 100th day of school picture frame!

Happy Sunday!!

I know I typically don't write blog posts on a Sunday, but I needed to get this one up!
I'm sorry I couldn't get it up sooner! We recently had our 100th day of school celebration!
It was such a blast! The students came dressed up like they were a 100 years old and we had a fun parade around the entire school. Afterwards, we did some 100th day activities including writing about what we would be with $100. We also made a trail mix with 10 different snacks!

It was a chaotic and exciting day! I wanted a cute way to commemorate this day for the kiddos as well as myself and their parents! I decided to make this super cute picture frame to take pictures of the kids and send it home to parents!

Let's start with the supplies!

I bought the supplies from Michael's and Hobby Lobby. The paint I already had at home but it is just regular acrylic and chalkboard paint you can get at any craft store or even Walmart.

  • Unfinished 11 x 14 frame ($14.99)
    • If I could go back, I would get a bigger sized frame
  • Wooden Star (Pack of 2 for $2.99)
  • Chip board letters (a pack for $5.99)
    • I ended up not using the individual Of chip board and instead used all my letters from the package I got. The package came with doubles of every vowel and I just trimmed the Q to turn it into an O.
  • Wooden Numbers (I don't remember the price for these but they were only a couple of cents per number)
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Yellow, neon pink, neon orange, and neon blue acrylic paint.
  • Paint brushes
  • Black Sharpie
  • Hot Glue Gun
The first thing I did was just to paint all my pieces. I used the chalkboard paint to paint the frame and the numbers.
I painted the star yellow, the word DAY in neon pink, the word OF in neon orange and the word SCHOOL in neon blue.

The second and last step is just to hot glue everything onto the frame! I arranged everything first before I hot glued it just to ensure that I had enough room. I also used the black sharpie to write th onto the yellow star.

I do have to say that the chip board letters are VERY fragile! The hot glue WILL hold it but you have to be careful with little hands. If they grab it too hard the letters will bend.
I didn't think this through when I bought the frame but I personally like this type of frame versus a completely flat one. I love the dimension it gives in pictures.

Well that's it! A very simple DIY-  which are my favorite if you haven't noticed! 😉

I also made this super cute shirt to wear on that day! 😊

Thanks so much for reading! I hope this gave you some ideas for your 100th day of school! Whether it is for your own classroom or just your kids at home!

Have a wonderful weekend!
As always, feel free to leave comments or ask any questions!!
